Distance education degrees are on the rise, especially among American universities that offer a master's degree in business administration. Many students are pursuing an MBA through distance education because of the demands of today's business world coupled with the demands of family life. Distance education degrees are generally offered in an online format and provide students with the flexibility to pursue a degree on their own schedule.
University of Houston-Victoria
The University of Houston offers a distance education MBA through its Victoria, Texas, campus. Students who take courses through the Victoria campus have the same rights and privileges of University of Houston students on the main campus in Houston. The university's Bauer School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and offers students a variety of options within the degree program. One option is the "Global MBA" program. Concentrations within the program include marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship, economic development, management, general business and finance.

Penn State University
Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania, is one of the nation's top universities and it now offers online degrees in 70 fields. In 2010, the U.S. News & World Report ranked Penn State in the top 50 among national universities. Penn State's online degree programs carry the same weight and prestige as those offered on campus because the school makes no distinction between the two types of degrees. The MBA offered online through Penn State's World Campus is AACSB-accredited and offers concentrations such as accounting, marketing, finance and operations management.

East Carolina University
East Carolina University offers an AACSB-accredited MBA program online. While some programs are just now moving to the online degree format, ECU has offered its degree online since 2004. East Carolina offers various concentrations, including finance, operations management, marketing, business ethics, economics and business information systems management.
